Mozambique Basin 3rd Licensing Round
The National Petroleum Institute launched the Mozambique Third Licensing Round on the 6th December 2007 for a period of 6 months allowing companies time to complete there technical evaluation.
When the Licence Round closed on the 2nd of June 2008, National Petroleum Institute had received license applications from;

2.OSHO consortium which would include;

•ETA Star Holdings Ltd.

The results of the bid evaluation will be announced middle July 2008.

June 2008 – Consortium Petronas 42.5% (operator)/ PetroSA 25.5%/ Petrobras 17% & ENH 15% (Zambeze Delta offshore concession area) – Mozambique Basin
The Malaysian oil company Petronas is acquiring 5,000 km 2D seismic within their concession area.
May-June 2008 Terralliance (M10 and Sofala offshore concession areas) – Mozambique Basin
The US firm Terralliance, through its companies M-10 Ltd and Sofala Ltd respectively has started the acquisition of a total of 2,300 km of 2D seismic survey of which 1,000 km are within the M-10 concession area and 1,300 km in the Sofala concession area in June 2008.
May-June 2008 Consortium SASOL 85% (operator) / ENH 15% (offshore 16&19 concession area) – Mozambique Basin
SASOL started the acquisition of approximately 2,000 km of 2D seismic survey within the offshore concession area in May 2008. From January to June 2007 the first 3D seismic survey (2,047 Sq kilometers) in Mozambique was acquired in the concession area. Two exploration wells will be drilled in the concession area in 2008.
May 2008 - Consortium SASOL 70% (operator) / ENH 30% (onshore Pande/Temane concession area) – Mozambique Basin
Sasol has formally finished the drilling campaign which resulted in drilling of 11 production wells, 5 exploration wells 10 appraisal wells as well as the abandonment of 14 old wells.
January- May 2008 Consortium Anadarko 56.5% (operator)/Mitsui 20%/ENH 15%/Artumas 8.5% (Area 1 offshore concession area) – Rovuma Basin
Anadarko acquired the second 3D seismic survey in Mozambique in their concession area at, the northern part of the Cabo Delgado Province. A total of 3,370 sq kilometers of 3D seismic survey was acquired. In addition they acquired 382 km of 2D seismic survey.
January- May 2008 Consortium Eni 80% (operator)/ENH 10%/Galp Energia 10%/Kogas 10%/ (Area 4 offshore concession area) – Rovuma Basin
The Italian oil company ENI acquired a total of 1,047 sq kilometers of 3D and 2,300 km of 2D from January to May within the deep water concession area offshore the northernmost part of the Cabo Delgado Province.
October -November 2007 Consortium DNO 80% (operator)/Wilrusko 20% (Inhaminga onshore concession area) – Mozambique Basin
The Norwegian company DNO acquired 200 km of 2D seismic survey in the Inhaminga concession area, north of Beira. One exploration well will be drilled in the concession area in 2008.
May-August 2008 – Consortium Petronas 42.5% (operator) / PetroSA 25.5) / Petrobras 17% & ENH15% ( Zambeze Delta offshore concession area) – Mozambique Basin
The Malaysian oil company Petronas drilled one exploration well, ZD-E-1 within the concession area with a negative result.
May-June 2007 – Consortium StatoilHydro (operator) 90%/ENH 10% (Area 2 & 5 offshore concession areas) – Rovuma Basin
The Norwegian company StatoilHydro acquired 3,000 kilometers of 2D seismic data within the offshore concession area, northeast of Pemba.
April-June 2007 - Consortium Artumas/ENH
Artumas/ENH consortium has signed an Exploration and Production Contract (EPC) for Area onshore Rovuma Basin, with the government of Mozambique on the 18th April 2007 as a result of the 2nd Biding round launched on the 15th of July 2005 for the concession of 5 Exploration areas in that Basin. The contract is valid for 8 years and the consortium will invest a minimum of 56.5 millions USD for the Exploration commitments.
March 2007 - Consortium SASOL 70% (operator) / ENH 30% (onshore Pande/Temane concession area) – Mozambique Basin
The South African Company SASOL has presented a plan for the drilling of 11 production wells, 6 exploration wells, 8 appraisal wells and abandonment of 14 wells.
