The natural gas production has been in place from 2004 and as result of demand for more natural gas conjugated with the potential commercial gas discovery in Pande/Temane Production Sharing Agreement Area an expansion of the production, processing and transport of natural gas was authorized by the Government of Mozambique back in 2009.

In undertaking the above mentioned mission, over the recent years Mozambique has witnessed the growing level of exploration activities mainly in Mozambique and Rovuma Basins as a result of the total of 12 contracts.

Significant gas discoveries were undertaken in Mozambique Basin specifically in Inhassoro, Temane East, Areas 16 & 19 and quite recently in 2010 and 2011 in Concession Area 1, offshore Rovuma Basin. The Discoveries of natural gas in Rovuma Basin brings new hopes for the country both in terms of a new source of energy that can serves the socio-economic development of the country and as a source of income that can improve the financial strength of the country as well as challenges in implementation of deepwater developments projects in Mozambique. This development stimulate and encourages the other operators in Rovuma Basin to undertake its exploration plans towards drilling of exploration wells to prove hydrocarbon reserves where special emphasis should be given to  ENI planning to drill up to 3 well in Area 4 and Petronas 1 well at area 1 of the Rovuma Basin.

As a consequence of the discoveries in Rovuma Basin, we have witness huge interest from both speculative seismic acquisition companies in undertaking acquisition of seismic data South of Rovuma Basin that would stimulate the licensing of exploration areas to the oil companies.

With all these developments, Mozambique has good prospects for a flourishing petroleum industry and that makes our country one of the preferred destination for prospecting business opportunities in the petroleum sector therefore you are warmly welcomed to pursue such opportunities.
